My name is Breana Brill and I am currently a sophomore at Michigan State University. I am a Professional Writing major along with a minor in African Studies. I am quite the active student on MSU's campus. I am a participant on the Michigan State's debate team, ranked fifth in the nation, and I am a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority where I am the Publications Chair. I am also Social Media chair for Michigan State's Jewish Student Union where I am in charge of all Hillel social media accounts. Lastly, I am a Communications Assistant for the MasterCard Foundation at Michigan State.
I am a contributing writer for multiple publications at the moment. I write weekly for The Odyssey, a digital paper owned by Olympia Media Group and I am also a Social Media Intern. My content has over 12,000 shares across a variety of media platforms. I also help manage Michigan State's Odyssey Facebook age and create strategies on ways to increase audience engagement and website page views. I also freelance blog for the Huffington's Post college section. Some of my content has a few thousand shares across a variety of media platforms. Lastly, I am a Contributing Writer for OnMogul, which is a platform that targets a woman audience.
In the past, I was a teen reporter/journalist for the Chicago Tribune's Teen Publication: The Mash. I was selected for various print edition cover stories with examples including the 2012 presidential election and a feature story interviewing the Olympic Gynmast: Gabrielle Douglas. I was also interviewed by WGN news on live television in October 2012 to help inform teens about the election and provide my opinion about various political matters. Lastly, I was interviewed on Steve Cochran's live radio show in March 2014 at the WGN radio station to discuss the election, gun control and the disparity in school funding between urban and suburban schools.
